As well as providing precise information on the lifeboat’s location and nearby navigational hazards, lifeboat crew can use the Chart function to plot a casualty’s position, if known.

If the casualty’s exact position isn’t known, the Chart function can also be used to automatically generate and display a search pattern for the lifeboat to follow, maximising the chances of finding the casualty quickly.

In the Shannon, information from the AIS can be overlaid on the charts.
